Independence and scope
The Murder Archives is an independent educational publication operated by Signal Wave Media. It is not affiliated with law enforcement, courts, prosecutors, defense counsel, victims, survivors, or their families unless a page expressly states a documented collaboration. The archive is not an investigative agency or a repository for active-case tips.
How we source claims
We prioritize court records, public inquiries, government and law-enforcement publications, contemporaneous records, and established reference works. Later journalism and scholarship may provide context. Each dossier includes starting sources and distinguishes the archive’s summary from external material.
Convictions, confirmed or officially attributed victims, suspected cases, and offender claims are not interchangeable. Where reputable sources disagree, we identify the uncertainty instead of selecting the most dramatic number.
Victim-conscious coverage
Victims and affected communities are part of the historical record, not narrative devices. We avoid rankings, celebratory language, collectible framing, unnecessary personal details, speculative diagnosis, and descriptions that teach or admire methods of violence. Familiar nicknames may appear for identification and search context, but they are not treated as honors.
Graphic and disturbing material
The subject matter includes murder, abuse, discrimination, and institutional failure. Reader warnings appear where appropriate. We do not ordinarily publish graphic crime-scene images or explicit descriptions when a factual summary will serve the same editorial purpose.
Updates and review
Case records can change through appeals, identification work, newly released documents, or revised official findings. Review dates indicate when a page was last assessed; they do not guarantee that every external source has remained unchanged. Substantive errors are handled under our corrections policy.
Community contributions
Submissions are leads for editorial review, not published evidence. Editors verify sources, rights, and relevance independently. No payment, donation, personal connection, or volume of requests guarantees coverage or a particular conclusion.
