Information you choose to submit
The contact form accepts a message and, optionally, a name, email address, and JPEG, PNG, or WebP image. Do not submit sensitive personal information, private addresses, active-case evidence, confidential witness information, graphic material, or information you are not authorized to share.
Automatic security information
The service receives standard request information needed to deliver and protect the website, which can include an IP address, request time, browser or device information, and requested URL. The submission endpoint transforms the requesting IP address with a secret salt and one-way hash for rate limiting. Short-lived rate-limit records are subject to routine cleanup. Cloudflare Turnstile also processes information needed to distinguish legitimate users from automated abuse.
How submissions are used
We use submitted information to review corrections, evaluate sources and image rights, reply when an email is provided, document editorial decisions, prevent abuse, and defend the security and legal rights of the archive and its users. We do not sell submission contents or automatically add them to a mailing list.
Private quarantine and moderation
Accepted files are placed in private quarantine storage under randomized object names. The public website has no route for retrieving quarantine files, and a submission never publishes automatically. Authorized editorial or technical personnel may review a file before it is rejected, deleted, retained for documentation, or separately approved for publication.
Retention
There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for submission records. We retain a submission for as long as reasonably necessary to review it, correspond with the sender, document an editorial decision, exercise any granted publication rights, meet legal obligations, resolve a dispute, or protect the service. An unselected upload may be deleted after moderation. Published or rights-related records may need to be retained longer.
Service providers and disclosure
The website uses Cloudflare infrastructure, including security checks, request processing, database storage, and private object storage. Information may be disclosed to service providers acting for the site, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect rights and safety. External source links have separate privacy practices.
Children
The submission service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly request personal information from them. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information may contact us to request review.
Your request
To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you submitted, use the contact form and provide enough detail to locate the record. We may need to verify the request and may retain limited information where required for security, legal compliance, rights documentation, or dispute resolution.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the service, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
